INFORMATION

Program Information for Child Care Providers

MI Tri-Share is an employer-driven benefit.

Employees of participating employers can choose any licensed child care provider that meets their unique needs. Employees may opt to use their existing child care provider (if licensed). Employees are able to have children placed with multiple providers.

Child care providers must not increase rates for families because they are participating in the MI Tri-Share program. This does not include when child care rates for all families increase (based on annual tuition increase, cost of living, etc.).

The following licensed child care options can be eligible for the MI Tri-Share Program:

  • Traditional Care (Full/Part Time)
  • Preschool
  • Before and After School Care
  • Summer Care
  • Summer Camps

Child care providers can be both an employer and a provider of care! See the employer section for more details or Contact us if you would like to offer this program to your employees.

Are you a participating child care provider who has a story to share about how MI Tri-Share has impacted your business?

You ask, we answer

Only licensed child care and camps in Michigan are covered. Depending on an employer’s guidelines, the benefit can cover full-time and part-time care, preschool, before- and after-school care, summer care, summer camps, or a combination of these options.

MI Tri-Share is designed to cover children ages 0-12. Employers may choose to extend coverage through age 17 for licensed camps.

Only families who work for a participating employer and meet the income qualifications are eligible.

It is very easy to participate and receive payments!

Child Care providers will receive a DocuSign link to review and sign the provider agreement, information sheet, and W-9.

Child care providers will log in to the billing system, enter the dates and cost of care for each child participating in the MI Tri-Share program, and upload an invoice if available.

If your invoice is received by Friday one week, you will be paid the following Friday for current or past care that is included on the invoice. Invoices for future care dates (that begin more than a week in the future) will be paid on the Friday before the care date begins.

You will receive 100% payment of your invoice total, as long as it does not exceed the approved maximum care amount for the employee, even if we have not received payments from the employee, employer, or state.

The billing portal will walk you through the required information needed for each invoice, including:

  • Child’s Name
  • Dates of Care (start and end date)
  • Total Cost of Care for the Dates of Care (100%)

If you have an invoice to upload to the portal, this will help avoid follow-up questions and delayed payments.

*Each child, dates of care, and the cost of care must be listed on a separate line.

30 days prior to a change. The employee or child care provider will need to fill out a Care Change Form.

Changes may take up to 30 days to initiate. Parents are responsible for paying for any increase while this is in process. The MI Tri-Share administrative partner staff will confirm with all parties when the change has been implemented.

Child Care costs are only covered by MI Tri-Share while the employee is employed

If an employment separation occurs, as of the termination date 100% of child care costs are the employee’s responsibility.

Child Care providers may also be asked to participate in data collection processes implemented by the evaluation team. These may include, but are not limited to, focus groups, surveys, interviews, etc.
